good reads

what?! it's thursday already? wow, the week really flies when you're sick in bed doing absolutely nothing. hopefully today will be the turning point in my sickness and tomorrow i'll start feeling better. positive thoughts...

one thing i've been thinking about now that school is done is how delightful it will be to read for fun again! when i was a kid i would read for hours. i would even stay up super late under the covers with a flashlight and my book so no one would know i wasn't sleeping. but since grad school, all my allotted reading energies were strictly devoted to psychology books. oh they were fascinating, don't get me wrong. but there's something about reading as a form of entertainment that's so darn satisfying!

so i've been building a little list of books i can't wait to read:
* eating animals by jonathan safran foer {one of my favorite authors ever}
* the girl with the dragon tattoo by stieg larsson
* my booky wook by russell brand {his memoir}
* the big sleep by raymond chandler {a guilty pleasure}
* babylon by bus by ray lemoine, jeff neumann, & donovan webster
* arriving at your own door by jon kabat-zinn {mindfulness & meditation stuff}
* oh and i need to finish committed by elizabeth gilbert {especially since i'm getting committed in a couple months!}

so there it is. and, as if i needed to add to the list, if you have any favorite book recommendations i would love to hear them!

  1. I am plowing through the books at an incredible rate this summer! Just finished Secret Daughter (which was quite good) and am now reading The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte. Next up, The Forgotten Garden (my book club book this month) Have you read Water for Elephants? It was great.

    PS: Feel better, stat!

  5. I definitely agree! Currently I'm rereading the Harry Potter series for the umpteenth time and forgot how much I really love it. Reading is a breath of free air in a hectic week. I've found myself at work lately just waiting to get off so I can pick up a book. Those are some good suggestions. I've seen a lot about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but I don't know anything about it. I'll have to look into it!
