good deeds ~ what anne frank & dr. seuss know

"how wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment
before starting to improve the world."
                                 -- anne frank

"unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing
is going to get better.  it's not."
                             -- dr. seuss

what do anne frank and dr. seuss have in common?
for one thing they both know the great importance of making the world a better place wherever you may be right this very moment.  so stop right there!  look around you.  what can you do right now? smile at a fellow coffee shop patron?  ask a coworker how he/she is doing?  take care of that thing your roommate/partner dreads doing around the house?  or perhaps clean out the litterbox for your very patient kitty?

great! that's a solid start.  now, can you go a little bigger?  check in on a loved one maybe?
volunteer at your child's school?  deliver treats to your neighbors?

there are so many things we can each do that take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours, but which are overwhelmingly powerful to those around us.  just think what this world would be like if we all partook in these "small" selfless acts on a regular basis!

ps - happy august!

  2. I'll do the laundry and some cleaning, but the litter box, that is left for my husband, besides during the summer the cats are outside most of the time!

  3. So incredibly true! I've been thinking a lot about giving and sometimes when we give because we are expected to we lose sight of what's important. But if we give on our own accord life because so much more full. Which is why I love the Anne Frank quote. I admire all those who live a life of giving.

  8. These quotes are so true. There's no time like the present to make change happen, and there's no one like us to set those changes in motion :) Very inspirational!

  15. Sometimes I think Dr. Seuss must have been one of the smartest men ever.

Anne Frank wasn't too shabby either ;-)

  17. So very true, Kim! Can you imagine what life would be like without that hug, that kiss, that comment? Some people do, but we can change that.

For example, thank YOU for the birthday wishes! :)

  22. Yes, whether from Anne Frank or Dr. Seuss, this holds true. Kindness is the best currency.

(I still get pleasantly surprised at how easily people smile back once I smile at them.. sometimes that's all it takes to brighten one's day)
