tomorrow is april fool's day, otherwise known as The Day I Don't Believe Anything Anybody Says At. All.
for example...
april 1, 2010
cashier: that latte will be $4.50 please.
me: haha... yeah, right. got it fella. [wink, wink]
barista: no really,... you owe me $4.50.
me: hee! heeee! that's a good one! [nudge, nudge]
barista: SECURITY!
i come off as just plain ornery, but really, i don't like to be had. i like to do the... hadding?
so let me hear it, any awesome april fool's jokes you or someone you know pulled? i promise you don't have to admit that it was a joke pulled on you. it could just be some prank that happened to your "friend," you know? ;)
my favorite is a prank that my old boss's husband did when he was young {i think he was actually in law school at the time, so you know, he was a real smart guy}. he and several buddies snuck into another friend's house and filled the commode with boiling water and multiple jello packets. sure enough, by the time their friend got home 6 hours later, the toilet was FULL of solidified jello!!
so awesome. which of course, made me think of this clip:
i sure have been referencing the office a lot lately haven't i? i guess it's a part of my grieving michael scott process.
anyhow, in my search for this video, i found a tutorial on how to put office supplies in jello, just in case you need something to do at work tomorrow.
so funny!
How funny :) Law students get into more shenanigans than you could even imagine, ha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me... I'll be on my toes tomorrow so I don't get fooled.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll try to come up with a great prank by tomorrow as well!
tomorrow is my birthday! seriously. i'm telling you today so that you'll believe it tomorrow :) i think it's the best birthday ever.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious - you made me giggle out loud, and then I had to lower my head whilst checking around to see if anyone saw me - ha ha.
ReplyDeleteHappy april fools day tom .
A xx
I love the idea of a jello toilet. I once plastic wrapped the whole thing, but that just left a mess to clean up. Certainly, the more creative the better. I'd like to do something this year, but what to do...
ReplyDeleteOh man and I work tomorrow. Something tells me it's not going to be fun.
ReplyDeleteHAHA, KIM! That opening discussion is HILARIOUS!! :) I'm like you, I don't like to be had either :P
ReplyDeleteNot a lot of people around me really do April Fool's...but in terms of pranks, a couple friends and I were just exchanging funny pranks we've heard of. The personal ones, I'll tell you next time I see you in person, because it's just better that way :) But have you ever heard of "Prank Wars"?? Man, I just heard about it, and I was watching some of the episodes on Youtube...that Yankee stadium one and the basketball one...if you haven't seen it, tomorrow would be a fun day to watch them! :)
I've never pulled an April Fool's prank myself I don't think... And now I'm nervous to see what tomorrow will bring!
ReplyDeleteI remember one year the local radio station was telling everyone that there were rolling blackouts throughout the country... so I automatically freaked out and called home. Buuuut then I remembered that it was April 1st.
I have never really pulled off a good April fools joke but my co-worker emailed another one of my co-workers last year and asked if I had told her my good news yet. She told her I was pregnant and my other co-worker was totally freaking out! It was a good one especially since she didn't even tell me she was doing it! haha!
ReplyDeletei usually forget about april fools day until someone says they're pregnant.. or separating from their other half.
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you...I am not a huge fan of the trickery...it make me feel a bit uncomfie :) Hopefully I will make it through April 1 with no drama :)
ReplyDeleteMy grandma was the most amazing person. She had a prank war with her neighbor that went on for years--my favorite was when she put dry-ice in his toilet :)
ReplyDeleteI'm grieving the departure of Michael Scott, too! And he hasn't even left yet... {totally loved when Jim put Dwight's stapler in the jello, that was awesome!}
ReplyDeleteBest April Fool's Day joke I know of is one my aunt pulled on my grandparents when she was in her late teens. 18, 19 maybe? Anyway, she parked her car {a super cool VW bug} down the street and out of sight. Then she left a note on the kitchen table saying she and her boyfriend had decided to elope. Really she was sound asleep in her bed. Her folks were FREAKING out when she came wandering out for breakfast an hour or so later!
Alan took the boys to the Trick & Joke shop last week. They have all sorts of shenanignas planned for tomorrow. I bet you anything I find a bug in an ice cube in my juice glass tomorrow morning!
Okay, but I do need to know your feelings on Will Ferrell. Like or no?
ReplyDeletei have yet to come up with something totally amazing! my brother in law is born on apr 1st, i always wanna fool him. we actually used to work together, and i used to tape car freshner (the flat ones you can hang on the rear view mirror) under his keyboard. the smell was so strong, but he couldn't figure out where it was coming from!

My first husband left me a note telling me he was leaving me. It went on to explain that he still loved me and they were his issues. He wrote it so that it continued onto the back, and then when I turned it over, it said, "Happy April Fool's Day!"
ReplyDeleteBAH!!! that jello joke is a scream!!!
ReplyDeletei totally forgot that tomorrow was april 1st!
years ago i worked in human resources (THE HORROR) and i hired a guy that had a birthday on 4/1. d'oh! that is brutal!
I agree with Brandi :-) lovely greetings
ReplyDeleteI don't think it was an april fool's joke but my brother and his friends once took one of the teacher's little cars and rolled into the hallway at school.
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot about it until today!! I wish I had thought of something cool, I love April Fools! I'm so bad at it though.
ReplyDeleteMy dad once snuck into his bosses office and replaced all of his furniture with miniature versions of his furniture (including cutting A4 paper into four, so he little paper to write on).
Seems like a lot of effort though!
And here's one my dad's friend did (which was a bit too far!): He was staying in a hotel room quite a few stories off the ground, which had a pool below. He invited his parents over, pretended to cry, said 'goodbye cruel world' and jumped off the balcony (landing in the pool..which his parents didn't know about).
Needless to say they were not amused!
word on the street is that will Ferrel is supposed to replace michael scott for a brief period of time... hmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteThis post is hilarious! I cannot believe they really did that toilet/jello thing - crazy!
ReplyDeleteAnd there's no such thing as too many Office references!
that jello pranks is hilarious! I love pranks, as a matter of fact i have engaged in several prank wars during undergrad and law school. One of the pranks I am most proud of was during Duke's campout (students campout for a weekend for a chance to win season tickets for basketbal). Anyways, as you can imagine there is a lot of drinking going on, and people bring their tents to sleep at night, so my friend and I bought a box filled with crickets and right before people starting heading to their tents we put all the crickets inside my friends tent, on his sleeping bag and everywhere and when he went in after a few too many beers it was hilarious hearing him thrashing around trying to kill them all.
ReplyDeleteok, that was a really long post... happy april fool's day :)
I've never been part of april fool shenanigans until today. got fooled by elephant journal. hope you are having a rocking day.
ReplyDeletehahahaha sooo funny! i have gotten the mister w/an april fools joke every year... except this one. i decided to take a break, last year he wasn't happy when i told him i adopted another dog, and sent pictures of the little guy that was coming home with me. :)
