...that we're moving away in a few weeks.
it actually happened in my local grocery store yesterday. i was reaching for the yogurt when one of the worker guys said "hey how's it going?" and i suddenly felt like bursting into tears. it wasn't what he said, but the way he said it - this guy knew me. that happens when you go to the grocery store every other day because you can only buy what you can carry on your back. in that moment it hit me that i'm not only leaving my apartment, but my neighborhood and all the wonderful people i come into contact with every day.
when you live in san francisco you end up seeing your neighbors everywhere you go. the city is so small and packed together that you never have to drive in your car to go somewhere, you just walk a block to your local bar/restaurant/grocery store/music venue/etc. san francisco is pretty unique that way and we're finding it really hard to think about living in a neighborhood that's more spread out. i love not having to ever get in a car to run errands or have fun, but it's going to be a little different in l.a.
so i've been starting to feel nostalgic about san francisco. i don't have any family here, but in my mind, san francisco is and always will be my home.

Everything will be OK. It will take some time to get used to your new place, neighborhood and city, but it will happen. Believe me I know with all the moving I have done in my life time. Just think about all the new adventures coming your way.
ReplyDeleteLove you.
i just just moved a few weeks ago...it's always sad to leave your home, friends and all that is familiar, but i like knowing that i can always go back for a visit! it is exciting to start fresh in a new place too and i hope that you will settle into your new home with ease.
