the honeymoon!!!

i go back to school today... but i'm consoling myself with daydreams of the amazing honeymoon dannon has planned for us!

we're going to thailand for 2 weeks!! we'll spend the first few days lounging around phuket beach {rated the world's best beach in some travel magazine we looked at last month}.

then we'll spend a few days traveling through the country - touring bangkok, villages, and buddhist temples. hopefully i'll have some time to go shopping for clothes that actually fit me!

then... then! the absolute BEST part!!! we'll be staying at an elephant sanctuary for a few nights where we will be assigned our very own elephant to care for - take it on walks, bathe it, play with it, feed it, and love it! oh, and also the elephants LOVE to paint, so we'll take it to painting class.
the place we'll be staying at takes in all sorts of wild animals that have been hurt or abused {apparently there's a one-legged monkey with a pet rabbit, and some other interesting animals}, but they mostly find elderly or overworked elephants, buy them, and then retire them by providing the best life an elephant could want.
i can't wait to meet our elephant!

it's kind of torture having to wait until september to have my very own elephant. i really just want to skip everything and go straight to that! eee!

  13. whatever you do avoid the trains! someone told us that and we should have heeded their advice. hope ya'll have a fabulous time. we did a lot of rock clambering, so of course I have to recommend it, but I also think ya'll have fabulousity planned! Also, the Thai cooking school is so much fun. You can go for a full day and even go to the markets and pick out everything. We just a half day, but it was still fun (the recipes are on my blog!).

  16. The first class area is definitely an improvement from the rest of the train (we went that way as well). Just expect the traveling to possibly take a lot longer then what it says it will take. My friend Olivia lived there a year and told us that the trains normally take much longer then what they are supposed to take. When we went we were delayed five hours and between that and the bus we spent a day and a half just traveling and got in to our hotel at night instead of the early morning as we were planning. BUT it was cool seeing the country side, and I'm sure ya'll will have fun no matter what. They just aren't as efficient as Asian/European trains, and I think if you are expecting that to happen it won't be a big deal.
