this too shall pass

Just call me Alexander cause yesterday was a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day! It was the kind of thing where some pretty big things went wrong, even though I thought I had taken all the right steps to prevent it. So it was shocking as well as frustrating, you know? Fortunately I have an awesome support network and, as a therapist, I've been trained to deal with bad days and negative energy - so I guess I'm as ready as I can be for the hard life stuff right now.

I just had to keep reminding myself that everything will get worked out eventually {as it always does}, and of all the good things that are coming up for me this weekend.
Like...
* the superbowl!!! {go colts!}
* sleeping in!
* heavy metal aerobics with this ridiculously cool lady {who's new tattoo would have been great to have yesterday!}

And of course I turned to one of my favorite remedies for awful days - music!
How can you not feel a little happier, a little more hopeful, after something like this?
OK Go - This Too Shall Pass

What's in your go-to horrible day survival kit?

  1. What's up with this week? It seems to be awful all over the place...

    To cheer myself up I like to:
    - watch The Office
    - tickle my kids (their giggles are infectious)
    - buy myself a Dairy Milk bar
    - get some tulips for my kitchen table
    - go to the gym and run fast to terrible dance music (can you say Lady GaGa?)
    - drink heavily (ha! just kidding!)

    Hope your weekend is wonderful. And remember, some days are like that... even in Australia...

  2. I'm sorry about your craptastic day. I always like a bubble bath, some bubbly to sip on and a SATC, It's Always Sunny in Philly or Office (US or UK version)marathon to cheer me up! I hope today goes better for you. : )

  7. Let yourself cry....i mean, really boo hoo! Then, when all else fails, LAUGH! Sometimes it seems like the least appropriate thing to do in the dark moments, but on the contrary...it is the most appropriate thing for the healing of your soul. And you know, it wouldn't hurt to call your big sis now and then. Even though she talks A LOT, she is a good listener too, if that is what you need. If she starts jabbering on and on, just tell her to shut up and listen and that you dont want any advice, just the ear of someone who loves you. It just might help! And I do love you!

  9. Music definitely, and baking cookies or cakes always cheers me up! But it sounds like you've already got a pretty good coping mechanism - you sound like you would be the most amazing person to be around when a friend is having a crisis.

    Heavy metal aerobics sounds like the most amazing thing ever. Is it what I think it is - working out to heavy metal?? I would love that. I hope someone brings it to Scotland soon!!

    xx
