happy radio

it's no surprise {if you've spent any amount of time on my blog that is} that i'm a massive music-lover.  oh no, sorry, i don't think i said that right. what i meant to say was, i must have music playing at all times if i am to get anything done, remain a happy person, and not pass out on the floor in a melodramatic fashion.

now when i'm at home, i have my grooveshark playlists, wonderground radio, and eclectic 24 to keep me company at my computer, but i'm in a whole world of trouble in the car.  i'm not sure if you're aware of this, but it's really hard to find a happy radio station outside of the interweb.  this has always troubled me, especially now that i live in LA, a city full of frustrated drivers who could use a positive influence.

{having fun at kusc}

ever since high school i was surrounded by radio hosts.  several of my best friends {holler brian!} worked at our local classical music station and i would spend countless hours in the booth, even working the buttons after the boss went home {shhh! don't tell}.  so i suppose it's somewhere in my blood to have a strong desire to start my own radio station. only i want mine to be one that is ridiculously happy and fun... a radio station that takes the airwaves on a trip to the petting zoo, buys it an ice cream cone, and plays hopscotch with it.  sadly i don't have a real life radio station {and am not likely to have one at any point in the near future},
but what i do have is this blog and an extremely active imagination.

so step on up folks and push play.  delight your ears with the sounds of my pretend real life happy radio station!  a station that reads uplifting quotes instead of commercials and reports only good news stories {this just in, a little girl in oregon has been happily reunited with her lost puppy!}.

what's your favorite happy music?

  2. definitely start a radio station, you do need money behind you but if you can get an investor and sell lots of advertising you can do it. my dad ran an internet radio station for two years but it had to close due to lack of funds. but its amazing what you can do if you have the money behind you....oh music is wonderful. my favourite happy music is india arie and lauryn hill!!! xxxxxxxxxx

  4. Right now I've been listening to a ton of country music and its been making me really happy. I haven't really been into country since high school and I forgot how much I love it!

I'm also finding that Passion Pit and Muse have been rockin' my ears quite a bit lately.

  5. I always thought being on the radio would be cool. I like music but I like silence a lot too. :)

In my dream last night I flew to CA to find you. Haha. Not strange at all!

  6. I am somewhere between a music lover and silence lover. I love music but I also love a quiet moment in silence. Every time I feel like I need a happiness boost, I turn on the radio and sing my lungs out... It always works.

  11. I love you. That is all.

But mainly because you put "Mahna Mahna" on your playlist. That is just the cutest :)

  13. What a sweet idea! I love it! Although the best music can usually not be found on mainstream radio, I'm pretty attached to the morning show at one of the local hip hop stations here in SF. The three of them crack me up, and it totally helps me get prepared for work (on my tedious drive across the Bay Bridge).

Favorite happy music . . . probably old school hip hop? That always puts me in a dancing mood. I should come up with a Happy playlist . . . I've done too many depressing ones with weepy sad love longs!

  14. Recently it's been Al Green. What can I say I am a motown girl at heart.

  15. Aw, this makes me SO happy!! I think that LA needs a station like this, for sure. Maybe the world would be a better place because of this reason alone. I'm so happy to be here in Louisville and have the indie-rock listener-supported station that we have. It's usually playing good stuff and I'm forever thankful!

  16. Oh my gracious, I might just have to have this playing at all times in the background as I work. LOVE this!

My happy music: Oh my babies, by Sara Swenson. She could sing the alphabet and I'd swoon. She ROCKS!
