it's the end of another week! actually, with my odd-houred job, the end of my week is now saturday afternoons.  this has taken a bit of getting used to since i grew up in a religion that kept saturday as the sabbath.  even though i left that religion, i continued to keep that spiritual practice and it has been an interesting process to decide where i want to set my boundaries.  as sad as i was to lose my day devoted to loved ones and self-reflection, i'm thankful it happened because it helped me figure out what is most important to me {i'm not planning on working saturdays much longer}.

here are some other things i'm thankful for:
* serendipitously discovering a pretty bridge {the shakespeare bridge} tucked away in our neighborhood.
* everything working out perfectly with an event which i was totally anxious about.
* clearing out some stuff from our home {de-cluttering feels so good}.
* discovering this very cool and very helpful writing tool.
* that i found a job which pays me {i have to remember this is a good thing, even though it's not in my field}.
* that the mr.'s car was safe whilst parked out of sight on another street, and is now back outside our house {there are a lot of car jackings in our neighborhood}.
* the sun coming out to play during our june gloom.
* finding this super cute dress at ruche, a perfect purchase with the last of my gift card money.

and here are some things which i'm looking forward to over the next week:
* getting to know my work program well enough to stop practicing every day.
* having the mister come home.
* the romantic date we're planning which will involve this film.
* hanging out with brandi one last time before she moves to NY {sniff!}.
* the free pasadena music festival {i love free! especially with great bands like these.}

and now i shall leave you with this ridiculously cheerful playlist to enjoy over the weekend.
happy friday!

  10. Oh, I so need to de-clutter!

Great dress, so cute! I wish it felt like summer where I was so I could wear cute dresses!

  11. I love de-cluttering my house, office, room, garage...anything!! Filling up bags and dropping them off at goodwill is great therapy. Glad I found your blog, I'm your newest follower!

  12. I'm thankful that I have today off from the store. Also I'm very thankful for that totally adorable picture of you. LOVE!

  13. I sometimes have to remember to thankful for the job that pays me too (despite their which they forgot to pay me - so I won't get my first pay check until 30 June).

I am thankful I don't have to stress about paying my bills or anything despite my missing paycheck.

And I am very grateful for your blog Kim, it always brings me such joy.

  14. the june gloom is so weird this year! but it is rather exciting when the sun makes an appearance in the late afternoons!

and i love that shakespeare bridge! i love walking around that area -- so many cute houses.

i am thankful it is friday and that i am getting my hair done tomorrow. :)

    have a great weekend!

  15. Oh my gosh how funny I'm going to The Edison at the end of month to see Melinda Sullivan (from SYTYCD) dance in a tap show. I'm suuuuper excited. I love The Edison. Such a bummer about the fashion district though =( I love it there. It gets crazy, but I can't help liking it.

  16. I'm thankful that the closet purge is underway and I'm able to release things I really don't need anymore. I am feeling a burden to let go of things in my life.

  17. sounds like you have alot of pretty darn awesome things that you are enjoying lately:) love hearing about it! and I just love when you comment on my blog with little stories and anecdotes. yours are some of my fav comments:)

  18. I'm in love with that outfit! So summery and cute. I had a feeling you were linking to Midnight in Paris! I want to see that but I don't think it's playing at any theaters near us yet! Darn metro Detroit...

  19. Thank you for your well-thought counsel on my love post. That means a lot to me. You're right, a lot of times on blogs everyone makes everything look easy, especially relationships. Sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't but it's nice to be honest about both. Noah and I have been very lucky with living together. I had been waiting for this step for over five years and it was great for us when we moved in but we had almost exactly identical lifestyles in every way. Sometimes though since we don't fight about things often (certainly not every day things) it can be hard to handle big picture problems. For instance, all the wedding stuff. I know I've mentioned before that we don't always agree on it but these problems really stump us. We are good at compromise on a lot of things but when it comes to the wedding we don't know what to do. I think you're right that communication is number one. It's hard to be open sometimes (I think I have a difficulty expressing what I think/feel without Noah feeling bad.... He'll spend a lot of time with roommates playing videogames and not go to the farm market with me and that's fine but I'd like to spend time with him too. The problem is when I express it he feels bad about playing the game instead of thinking of the future and things we could do together. He takes everything upon his shoulders).

So, to sum up, this stuff obviously is on my mind a lot right now and quite heavily at that. I really appreciate insight from other couples.

(and I've never heard of this seven year thing. We've been dating for just over six years now so I'm curious as to what the 7 year itch is)

  20. PS - What I came on here meaning to say:

I love your lists for reasons you're grateful. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress and I'm so glad you found a job that you can enjoy....even if it's not in your field. :)

  21. Thank you for linking to my post, Kim! I'm glad you loved it so much! :) Your photo is so bright and cheery! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

  22. I hope you are having a beautiful weekend, dollface. Perhaps Sunday will feel that much sweeter after a Saturday morning spent working? xo.
