all kinds of lovely!

this weekend was filled {FILLED!} with parties, people, & art ~ just how i like it!

friday night was a blast. we headed over to a holiday party at our friends' house and met dozens of interesting people in the biz. our friends, elia & maranatha, are talented filmmakers. maranatha even won an emmy for her documentary about pediatric heart surgeries in egypt. it was so much fun getting to hang out with them and meeting their interesting friends.

the renegade craft fair was at a small park close to my home, nestled in a little valley between chinatown, elysian park, and the art warehouse district. there was also a lovely view of downtown.

on saturday i took the mr. to show him some of the things on my christmas wish list {hooray for handmade!}. then sunday i went and met up with the lovely brandi from not your average ordinary & pizzelles, and i had the pleasure of meeting lillian from unstitched {her blog is gorgeous, by the way}. it was so great to meet a couple amazing blogger ladies in real life. both brandi and lillian are so sweet and fun! plus, they both brought cookies that they had baked. i now have the distinct pleasure of telling you that they are fabulous bakers. mmm!

unfortunately, i forgot to take my camera to the fair, so i only have one photo from sunday, which i will share due to the sheer absurdity of it. that's right folks. this is how i dressed on sunday, DECEMBER 12, outside!

{85 degrees. sorry to all of you who are currently snowed in. it's hard to remember it's winter in most places in the northern hemisphere.}

i also came across some new shops that i fell in love with at the fair. catia chien makes the most beautiful and emotional art {especially for my fellow child therapists}. by belinda has hilarious, creative, and charming greeting cards. the postage service has sweet letters with vintage, pre-stamped postage. and of course, boygirlparty did not disappoint with their super cute recipe cards and fold + mail stationary.

yup, it was a pretty fantastic weekend.
 yesterday i registered as a movie/tv extra.  i figured if i need a random job to make a little money in los angeles, it might as well be in the movie business.  we'll see if they like my face and pick me to stand in the background of stuff.  maybe you'll even get to see part of my arm in the background of chuck or glee! :)

i hope you all are having a lovely week so far!

  10. I was just in LA last weekend, we went to the beach. I couldn't believe how warm it was. Is it bad to celebrate global warming by putting on shorts and a tank top in the middle of december?

    p.s. love your outfit :]

  13. Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend (so much more fun than the way I spent mine)

    You look adorable in that dress, though I am having a very hard time wrapping my head around the fact that you can dress like that on the 12th of December!

    Wish I could have met up with you and Brandi. One day!

    PS: That would be AWESOME if you get to be a tv/movie extra. Too bad LOST is no longer filming (SOB!)... maybe they'd have flown you over to Hawaii and while you were on set you could've told Sawyer that the love of his life was waiting for him up here in Victoria!
