Thoughts from a Monday

I had quite the weekend! Including finally seeing some sunshine, the Edwardian Ball {more on that later this week}, and sleeping in until 2 o'clock in the afternoon! Gasp!! I guess I needed the sleep, but my goodness! 2:oopm?! Needless to say I was a little frazzled yesterday with only a few hours left of daylight. Okay, I was completely over-dramatic about the whole thing - "My day is OVER! I might as well just get ready for bed and give up on life!"

But this morning, I want to share a couple things I did manage to experience during my few waking hours.

First of all, Go Colts! I can't wait to see my team at the superbowl in a couple weeks. And what's even better is I will be attending a Heavy Metal Aerobics class earlier that day so I can eat all the gross superbowl food I want! {by the way, Heavy Metal Aerobics? Yes please!}

Also, if you missed the last Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien I highly recommend you check it out on Hulu. His goodbye speech is one of the most beautiful and inspirational ones I've heard, especially by someone who was wronged so terribly. His message of focusing on gratitude and letting go of cynicism and bitterness was one that we could all learn from. He took the high road and I respect him now more than ever. Can't wait to see what he does in September.

And most importantly! My dearest friend Laura was featured on Minnesota Public Radio's "In The Loop!" Last year she quit her day job and started working as a full time {starving} artist. Last week she was interviewed about her experience with leaving the security of a job and forging her own path and small business. You can hear the interview by going here, wait for the player to load, then skip ahead to min 25:40. You can also check out her blog here, and her etsy shop full of cute cards here. I'm so proud!

{me and laura way back in 2006 - my how my hair has grown!}

  1. How crazy!
    I found your blog a couple months back in the comments on http://candimandi.typepad.com/ and added you to my google reader. Then today I saw a familiar face! I met Laura Brown through a friend of mine, and then we were acquaintances in college at Northwestern College. Small world! I will have to listen to her on the link you posted. How exciting!

  2. I always feel like that when I sleep in, especially on the weekends. It's so disappointing to wake up and see that your day off is nearly over.

  4. Heavy metal aerobics? Seriously? That's awesome. Do you have to dress appropriately for that, in ripped acid wash jeans and a black Twisted Sister t-shirt?!

    I haven't slept in for years. I envy you! (I do remember the feeling of having wasted the entire day though... and the ensuing drama!)

    Thanks for the heads-up re: Conan. I didn't see it and I'd like to. He is by far the bigger (and better) man. And so much funnier than Leno.

    Glad you got to see some sunshine!
